Ishuset, “the ice house”, was the estate’s “refrigerator” in the olden days. Naturally, the building has not been in use for countless years, and the thought of what is being developed here is virtually surreal. Ishuset is located by the riverbank, a few metres from Kornmagasinet and Treskelåven.
Behind the thick brick walls, a unique venue for events, meetings, and conferences is now under construction. The room has a floor-to-ceiling-height of 6 metres, and the walls are intact. The ravages of time have taken its toll on the building’s inner supporting frame, which will be carefully restored and reinforced. Ishuset will cater to all essential needs, amenities such as technical equipment, furniture, and lighting. It will have a capacity of 20-40 people, depending on the composition of the tables.
